Step forth bearded men, for we are the alpha males now. According to a study published in the Journal of Evolutionary Biology, 8250 women were asked to rate men, with and without facial hair, somewhere on a relationship longevity spectrum. Every single last woman that was asked if they preferred men with or without a beard for long-term partners answered affirmatively! Not 90% or 95% of the women asked, but 100%! It’s official, men with beards are more desirable.
If this isn’t an endorsement for beards I don’t know what is!? You can check out our various blogs on how to keep your beard looking shapely and sexy as well as tips on how to get that beard growing a little faster if you prefer.
So that’s settled then, men with beards are better long-term partners! Well we could have told you that… but you probably wouldn’t have believe us, best over 8000 women were asked instead.
The key question still remains however, why? Well it appears beards can actually blur the lines between masculinity and femininity therefore making a bearded man appear well balanced and a better potential long term partner. Conversely a strong jawline can indicate a high level of testosterone, which is associated with a lack of seriousness when it comes to committing to a long term partner.
The long and the short of it is that a beard will help mask your masculine face which in turn leads to connotations of maturity and a better long-term suitor. Alternatively a beard can also balance out a more feminine perceived face that some may construe as not manly enough. Beards are the answer to all life’s questions! OK maybe not quite, but who knows they could be so influential!?
So when it comes to that next time you are looking in the mirror and you have had enough. You can’t be bothered to wash your beard anymore, it’s getting too much effort to trim, just remember – it is doing you all sorts of favours in life. In return, keeping it clean and sharp is the least you can do, right!?
