Can you tell us how did got into the hair industry?
I’ve always enjoyed colouring and styling. After fully qualifying 2 years in a ladies salon I preferred to move over to the more exciting career of being a barber. I soon realized I wanted to have the best training available so I paid to do a 12 week course at the London school of barbering and came out with a distinction as a master barber in 2018.
Which do you prefer barbering or hairdressing?
I much prefer barbering to hairdressing. The reasons for this is because you are cutting the hair into a more exciting/ drastic style. Also I prefer the environment of a barbershop, lots of banter and laughter.
What is your favourite hair tool you can’t do without?
My favorite hair tool is my detailers. This is because it makes a haircut look fresh, sharp and smart. I can use them to outline, shape up and for patterns.
Can you tell us what you love about the London School of Barbering?
What I love about ‘London school of barbering’ is that you are put in the deep-end, as if you are working in a real life barbershop. This is important because once qualified you feel confident and are JOB READY. The teachers are unbelievable, talented and really care for the students future in this industry. I received top industry training in an exciting and professional environment. I gained so much confidence and loved every minute of it. Money well spent!
If you could give one advice to upcoming barbers, what would it be?
My advice for an upcoming barber is to invest in yourself and your career. I invested in myself by going on the ‘London school of barbering course’. This was the best decision I could of made and has taken me far in the barber industry.
Also be confident in yourself and don’t let a mistake get the better of you. Learn from it and keep improving.
What do you think to the Bear Grooming brand and our signature scent?
I love the bear grooming brand. Since trialing it out on my customers I’ve had 100% positive feedback. I like the packaging of the products as well.
Do you have any exciting future plans that you could share with us?
At some point in the future I would like to set up my own chain of shops, sell products online and get involved in training and bringing on new barbers.
